Student License

Students must obtain a Licence before they can take a grading. The licence is the students own personal insurance which will cover them in training and competition. The licence lasts for one year and must be in date for all gradings. Ask an Instructor for an application form or download the licence by clicking here.

The syllabus will be taught to the student in lesson and you will be required to practice it before taking your grade. All of the coloured grading is done at the clubs in front of the grading panel. The Blackbelt grading consists of two days of syllabus training followed by a three hour fitness and syllabus test at the end.

The grading system is base on the PSKB Syllabus and will consist of the following disciplines.
1. Hand Syllabus
2. Leg techniques
3. Combinations
4. Blocking syllabus.
5. Shadowboxing.

6. Bag Work
grading 7. Balance
8. Technique
9. Sparring
10. Fitness

12. Self-defence
grading

The self defence syllabus is made up with a 1 - 12 set syllabus system which is taught in sets of two per grade. During each grade you take you will have to demonstrate two of the syllabus to the panel of Blackbelts. Once you reach the grade of a green belt you will have to start to design you own self defence starting with 1 hand, 1 leg and 1 weapon of choice. As you progress up the grading system you will be required to demonstrate more. The student should be able to show a clear and efficient way of defending and dealing with the attacker. All self defence should be done with speed and skill which will demonstrate the techniques and actually work in a real life situation.

How does the Belt Ranking System work - how will you progress and what is the duration of the training?
